Powers and You Empty
PostSubject: Powers and You   Powers and You EmptySat Feb 08, 2014 9:13 am

This site is completely free form.
What this means is essentially you have your power and your opponent has there's, the extent of your power and your weaknesses are found in your application but there are no stats, training spams or word counts that will determine who is stronger instead all combat is based on the ingenuity of the users. Let's take for instance how The Flash utilises his abilities in a variety of ways, from spinning his legs at high speeds to semi-levitate to time travel, the powers limits are only limited by your imagination!

There are certain 'caps' on powers though, for instance:

  • There may only be two Kryptonians at a time
  • Kryptonian-like races will need reviewal
  • There shall only be one Agent of Order/Chaos/Spectre etc at a time
  • Items on the site are as plentiful as they are in the comics (Kryptonite is said to be rare, though something like a batarang are plentiful)
  • No 'Gods' (This does not mean no Ares/Hermes etc, just no literal reality warping entities)
  • All powers must have a balance of some form.

Now onto what wonderful ability you'll get!
There are four categories of 'class' for heroes/villains modelled after popular heroes or villains themselves. These will open certain benefits and hold certain limitations that are done in an attempt to balance the classes and combat system.

Meta
A Meta class hero/villain has control over one - five abilities at their disposal. These can range anywhere form Superspeed to the ability to control lightning. They may be of a variety of races whether it be Korugaran, Human or even Vuldarian. The more powers a meta has the more their 'energy' is spread over those powers, for instance a meta with pure superspeed will be able to outrun a meta with superspeed, heat vision, psychokinesis, invulnerability and flight.

Examples of Meta-Characters: Superman, Martian Manhunter, Black Lightning, Flash, Professor Zoom, Captain Cold (New 52), Inertia, Dru-Zod

Starting equipment:

  • 1 item of your choice
  • One costume made of any common material (rubber/unstable molecules/cotton and so on)*
  • One 'respawn' - A respawn is exclusive to metas, It is the ability to 'return to life' after some time after death. (ie; Superman's return, White Lantern, Rebirth, Reincarnation etc)

*Note: A meta's single item can be used to 'enhance' their costume/oufit, for instance Superman wears a kryptonian body suit that is fairly durable but must wear his outfit under his clothing, unlike Flash who carries a flash ring to store his outfit enabling him to change much easier.

---------------------------------
Cosmic
Cosmic heroes are those that usually exist away from earth and take their path in life knowing there is a universe out there to explore.
These heroes most often draw their power from a source, for example the Green Lanterns have their power battery, Darkseid has the Anti-life equation, Rip Hunter and Booster Gold the time bubble and if that power source is disrupted they tend to feel the effects quite quickly. Some can compensate with their physiology but over all Cosmic beings usually need a device to channel themselves through as well as a 'charge time' for their abilities.

Examples of Cosmic heroes: Green/Red/Blue/Sinestro/Star Sapphire/Indigo Tribe/Black/White Lantern Corps, New Gods, Darkseid, Apokolips,
Rip Hunter, Booster Gold (Timestream version), Mongul, Atrocitus, Firestorm, The Atom.

Starting Equipment:

  • Three Items of choice
  • A power source (Green Lantern Ring/Battery, Apokolips etc)
  • Outfit or Costume or Mid-tier power (Hard Light (Lanterns), Apokoliptian Armour (Darkseid) etc)

----------------------------------
Mystical
Mystics are those who know of the invisible world and the magics that bind them, a good example being the Justice League Dark, usually these magics need to be tethered to a source in some way and though the powers usually tend to be 'limitless' to some degree there is usually a harsh downside from overuse. An example being Madame Xanadu for whenever she might use a spell she will lose an amount of time off of her life and grow old until she makes a sacrifice to recharge. Doctor Fate has Nabu quite literally possess his body and Shazam must pray the Wizard will answer his call. Mystics definitely have the most potential but usually the harshest payment for these powers.

Examples of Mystic characters: Madame Xanadu, Shazam, Black Adam, Deadman, Swamp Thing, Constantine, Zatanna, Doctor Fate, The Shade, Circe, Wonder Woman, Ares, Hermes, Vixen, Animal Man, Beast Boy, The Rot, Raven, Trigon

  • Five Items of Choice (May be mystical ala Lasso of Truth, Helm of Hermes, Amazonian Gauntlets etc
  • Costume of Mid-tier power (Amazonian Armour etc)

---------------------------------
Mastermind
They may not have true powers but they are indeed vicious warriors, using their mind, planning and superrior tactics they can tossle with the likes of Superman himself and come out triumphant. These Masterminds usually rely on Gadgets, Pre-planning or enhanced technology to duke it out in the name of Justice...or villainy.

Examples of Masterminds: Lex Luthor, Batman, Nightwing, Huntress, Flamebird, Ra's Al Ghul, Riddler, Blue Beetle II, Deathstroke.

  • Twenty five items of choice (May be 'Futuristic Armour' like Lex or 'Satellite' like Batman if you so wish though note every feature added to an item will count as an item in of itself.)

[/list]

Items

So! How do Items work? Well as a free form roleplay they essentially work like this:
If Tommy has a Gun, He has a gun. If that gun is broken in combat then it is broken for the remainder of that topic.
Once Tommy rejoins a new topic he has his gun back. This goes for grenades and ammo as well, if you have 3 Grenades for instance, You have them for a topic and they will be replenished everytime you join a new topic.
